Why do employers get unreimbursed use of the remote employee’s property? If my dining room table becomes my employer required workplace, my employer should pay me what he otherwise pays to rent office space, buy broadband and provide security for his intellectual property, where I perform my duties. If I must store my wax fruit bowl for his profit, I expect compensation.

I’ve got a better idea: Up your own organization. I find all of this both pathetic and funny, especially considering that remote employees can live anywhere – and be of any nation’s citizenship. With double-redirect out-sourcing – I hire an American subcontractor who hires the foreign employees – I’m out of the 1040 game entirely.
