Teri’s probably sick to death with sports analogies, and even I openly make fun of sportscasters, especially during NFL season. This, however, is the stuff real estate dreams are made of. This is how I view the Bloodhound way.
This isn’t about technology.Β It is about a dream of having such a great team, in such a wondrous setting, with such a foundational underpinning that fans, real estate fans, will travel and watch, listen and learn, return season after season, to a place they knew in their innocence, and think they had lost forever to the bush league players who have stolen the rights and traditions of what we love about real estate, homes, communities and the “family practitioners” who sat with us as true purveyors of that dream.
Imagine with me.
Joe says:
Don’t like the analogy. You are messn with SI Don! If SI is online what am I going to read when I show up 5 minutes early to the dentist only to be seen an hour later? π

Doug Quance says:
The way in which SI is developing their publishing is great, IMHO.
Hopefully, it will be a beacon for others to follow.

Joe> For as much as we have to pay to see a dentist these days I think they should be able to afford Ipads by each waiting room chair.
Doug> Interesting that so much innovation comes from the sporting venues, isn’t it?

Teri Lussier says:
That’s extraordinary, simply extraordinary.
I guess life really is best explained through sports analogies. π

Two-time Unchained alumnus Scott Gaertner got me to take a closer look at HTML5. I’ve been interested in iPhone/iPad authoring for a while, but not to the extent of getting anything done. But Scott has a great idea, to generate content like that shown in the SI video to promote listings — the single-property app.
First one to the finish line wins, but don’t hold your breath. It’s early days for these tools. But here are some fun HTML5 toys to play with, to give you an idea what to look forward to.
The map is not working for me in Safari 4.x, but it’s a cool thought: Built in driving directions to my listing from wherever you happen to be. Not that’s dynamic content!

Don Reedy says:
Greg> To implement Scott’s idea or vision would be a real estate consumer dream. Imagine taking the best you have in the way of photos, integrating the best an MLS has in the way of information, driving directions as you posit. As I said, Imagine with me. Thanks for the “fun” stuff. It has cleared the Looking Glass up somewhat.
Teri> So there’s the story of a missed call on the last play of a nearly perfect game in Detroit. Seems the umpire “blew the call”, missed it, got it wrong.
Yes, this analogy does help explain what we’re imaging here. The “blown call” is analogous to providing bad information to our clients, missing information that is important to them, but perhaps not as apparent to us. We don’t want to get anything “wrong” for our clients. And having said that, an illustrated guide to all things real estate, with moving parts, integrated maps, data, pictures, etc., would provide multiple instant replays so that we could create opportunities for the client to hear, see, learn, explore and share questions and thoughts that would ultimately provide them with the best result possible.
The nearly perfect game analogy…..well, it works because all of us who love real estate want 27 out of 27 transactions to work out just the way the client wants. This kind of technology, coupled with hard work and initiative, will surely work to provide innings of greatness with the ability to make sure we don’t blow any calls.
Have I “cleared the bases?” π
