It was 4 whole years ago that I was sitting in the back row at my first ever RE/Tech hoo-ha conference when I first heard that Video was the next big thing. This sentiment has been repeated ever since and as far as home tours are considered, I can’t say that I have seen anything as impressive as this.
Select HD on the onscreen menu for best viewing. Full screen is not too bad either.
Casa Estrella from Quentin Bacon media|creative on Vimeo.
The video is just a part of an entire media storytelling package called “The Living Property Brochure”. For more on the creative background on the director’s process, take a look at Quentin’s blog. It’s quite impressive, if not mind blowing to see boundaries pushed this far.

wow. Just wow.
I inadvertently watched it for the first half with the sound off. I prefer it that way- all you get are the visuals which are so stunning that you don’t need the distracting/annoying music.
Although, the sounds of the home- water running, birds singing, the gentle breeze blowing- that’s what my mind filled in for me with the sound off. That would have made a gorgeous sound track to that. Cue the foley artist.

Video walk-throughs see to be the tool of the future. This was extremely well done and showed the property in a great way. I agree that music was a bit distracting at times the pictures do themselves justice all alone. It is extremely interesting to see how technology is taking us farther and farther away from the actual physical walk-throughs.

I must say that I truly enjoyed this video and found it to be extremely well done. If this is the future in real estate than you may be on the cutting edge. I have thought of investing in one of the flip video cameras to get quick video recordings of properties to show to clients. I feel it could perhaps save some time on visitation of houses that truly don’t fit the clients needs.

Nice one, but of no practical use to agents selling homes in the $100-$1,000,000 range.

This is an incredible video. I hear it took 3 days to shoot.
So, in response to the above comment, I think it’s of no practical use to 99.9% of agents and properties (irregardless of price), and virtually NOBODY would pay the price that it costs to put that beautiful piece together.
On several forums I’ve inquired as to the cost of this video, and never heard a specific answer from anyone. I’m pretty much assuming it was done for free as a portfolio piece or for a friend. The true, “going rate” price for something of this quality this this time commitment just isn’t practical in the real estate industry – unfortunately. No matter what the price point. Realtors just plain won’t spend THAT kind of money.

Louis, Fred-
Of course this video is useful to those of working in less sexy markets. Should I not ever feast my eyes on a Michelangelo because I’m not a marble sculptor? Should I refuse to watch Super Bowl TV ads because I don’t sell products on a national level? Should I never read Vogue because I don’t wear Dolce & Gabbana?
I can and try to draw inspiration from anywhere and everywhere, pushing myself to do better, better, best to advertise for whoever our clients are. Or, maybe that’s just me? I don’t really know any other way to be…

I could have chosen another video that director has on his site. One that looked maybe 1/10th the cost. That’s not the point really.
^^ pushing myself to do better, better, best to advertise for whoever our clients are ^^
That pretty much sums it up.

“better” or more profitable?
real estate agents are neither “rock stars” nor artists.
They are business people and should strive not to sell their clients’ homes in the most creative fashion but the most cost effective.

Thanks Louis. The point was to show and inspire. To acknowledge that video for the web in Real Estate has come a long way. I hope that was the take away.
If it inspires agents and brokers to do a better, more profitable job for our clients, then great, my time was not wasted here and neither was theirs.

Thanks Brad
I do appreciate the sharing of this video.
My test for any innovation is
1. whether it truly is useful
2.whether it is economically feasible to implement (ie. can it be profitable).
You’ll find many real estate innovations and real estate companies pass the first part of the test and get plenty of kudos for doing so.
Most of them, however, fail on the second part of the test.
Henry Ford’s innovation wasn’t creating the automobile it was making them available to the masses for a profit.

Amen.
Louis, I don’t want to be a Realtor rock star or an artist, I just want to do the best job I can for my clients.
