…is up at Minneapolis Real Estate Market Update.
And the winner is… our own Kris Berg with The Plastic Pig (and How to Pick Your Agent).
Kris also wins The Carnival of BloodhoundBlog, a testament to her excellence amidst the stiff competition around here.
The Carnival of Real Estate Investing is up at Real Estate Investing For Real. We entered Jeff Brown’s Compounding, Return On Investment, & What Matters To Investors — Invest $1 Get $2 Back, but, alas, it didn’t win.
But: There is more to life than BloodhoundBlog. There are lots of great articles at both carnivals. Check ’em out…

Kris Berg says:
Am I the only one who sees the irony in this? It is insane that the plastic pig wins yet again. π Thanks for the nomination, Greg.

And a well deserved win it was!
I had a girlfriend (long ago) that picked football winners using a secret formula that combined factors of the team colors, logo, and how cute the quarterback was.
I would use ridiculous criteria like team strength and speed, match-ups at key positions, past performance against the spread, special team ability, even how strong the opposing team’s nickle defense was.
My girlfriend killed me in the pools almost every time. It drove me mad, and was probably a contributing factor to the demise of our relationship.
But picking football teams is a wee bit different than chosing someone to represent you in what is probably one of the biggest financial transactions you’ll ever make. Yes, the pig and my girfriend’s secret formula will choose a winner at times, but would it not be far more prudent to select an agent based on more tangible things?

Great win, Kris.
The Plastic Pig compared the process wby which buyers pick real estate agents to a carnival soothsayer. The irony was not lost.

It may be insane, but it’s quality stuff Kris. π What’s up next, the satin weasel?

Was it just me or did the COREI highlight 8 posts, only 2 of which had anything to do with real estate investing?

We’re hosting it on February 19th. That will be our chance to put our mark on it.
Judges so far: Jeff Brown and Michael Cook. How about you?
Jeff and I talked about this tonight. I’ll trim the author’s and weblog’ names from the entries before mailing them through so there is no chance that personal feelings will affect the results. I’d also like to turn it into a sort of syposium on the ideas in the posts, along the lines of what we did with Dustin’s interview.

I’m in as a judge, Greg.

Woo hoo, Kris! Congratulations! And thank you… this is only the second time a Bloodhound entry has won at the CoRE. The only other win was Greg’s entry to the fourteenth carnival, which was hosted by Inman. I think that essay was the one that brought us Russell’s attention, and in doing so ended up changing BHB to the forum we’ve become. Who knows what goodies your Plastic Pig might honor us with! Great work, as always!
