From Homer: “Bear patiently, my heart – for you have suffered heavier things.”
Still, your life with, and story of, Desdemona, gives me no solace when I consider the two of you and your loss. By sharing, though, you have allowed all of us who love our own “Desdemona’s” to grieve and cry and fill up once again with our sensient remembrances.
You talked about your other dogs runner freer now that Desdemona is gone. May it be so with you as well.
Hard lines my friend. I’m a dog guy myself, and have 1 beauty that’s just turned 16 and living, sadly, on borrowed time, so I empathize. It occurs to me that my dogs may often act selfishly, but they never lie to me. That in itself is a blessing. Thanks for the excellent way you’ve expressed your thoughts. You’ve highlighted some things I agree with but wouldn’t have been able to pin down. I’m keeping a good thought for you and Desi.
