The sad thing about this is – even after all the borrowers who were “bamboozled” by their L.O.’s over these past several years, there is still a huge percentage of people that will give no more thought to their financing than – “he looks like a great guy”…. Foreclosure Wave #4 in the making?
Well we talked about this at length during BHB Unchained. The whole idea is to do something “different”. To me, the guy looks like a complete schmuck that I’d never in a zillion years entrust with my mortgage business.
The good news, however, is that he’s got a good chance to lock up the LA schmuck market.
PS: I would also never drink a beer with the guy in those Dos Eqquis (sp?) commercials he’s ripping off. The guy is totally lame.
Video is not easy, I give him 4 stars for stepping out, and producing a quality video.
When creating a video with comedy in the Mortgage/Real estate world, there is a fine line between being a Genius, and being a dumb ass. That`s the risk we take.
Myself, I am moving more towards the neighborhood documentary Videos, so much for the ADHD Buyer.
Like the movie “Waterworld” big money, Big star, big flop.
I think many of us just can’t accept that consumers don’t really care about MBS, CDO, mortgage theories, rate lock strategies, how long we have been in the business, our expertise, our ethics and integrity, etc
It still boils down to who is pimpin the lowest rates and all the other stuff is just dressing. Given that most American’s have a severe case of ADD, sometimes these ads are the best way to get to them. As much as I despise them, they seem to work.
However, my ego, pride, and respect for the profession simple won’t allow me to cross that line like this…

I hope you’re wrong, Russ. Consumers would do well to ignore videos like this and read “How to read a Good Faith Estimate”, on your site. Nice to see you again.

Brian,
That’s pretty funny. I think it is more of an image sell than a value proposition….

As always, it is the content.
Later, my friends.
