Wow… Evidently news doesn’t travel that fast…
But seriously: This is like Greek drama. How would it feel if your absolute best effort turned out to be a complete pig on the day of its introduction? And then, only a few months later, it had every last one of its teeth kicked out — by your arch-nemesis. And then, after that, you had to make make a lame-ass announcement that your little toothless brown pig will be even more obsolete — eighteen months from now. This is a day for falling on swords in Seattle…

Greg, that’s summer 2008, which is 18 months from now.
If only the real estate world moved so slowly.

Fixed. Thanks. And: Jeez… The sick thing is, MS will not have killed it by then, even though it died today.

How?
every one of its teeth kicked out
How so, and by what?
Maybe you mean this cool looking new gadget called the iPhone that holds promise, but can’t be bought today? Guess we’ll have to see.
If it obsoletes the Zune, I guess you’re extrapolating that to mean that it obsoletes every known version of the iPod as well? I’ll have to admit, they’ve been doing a good job of obsoleting those themselves.

Yeah, the same way they should have killed the Xbox when it died when the PS/2 shipped… oh, wait a minute…

Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. I actually have a Zune (well I purchased a pink one for my wife), and we actually like it. The screen is big & beautiful, the UI and audio quality are excellent. I like it better than the Creative Zen I had. Yeah, the wi-fi sharing feature is shackled by DRM and it’s not an iPod killer yet, but hey, I can’t fault them for trying. It’s a solid (if unspectacular) first effort.
Besides, if Zune Gaming gets half the love that XBox 360 Live Arcade has, it’d do well. Microsft has forgotten more about video gaming than Apple will ever know.
