Something light for a Tuesday afternoon.
I’m a sucker for the underdog. I’m a sucker for delightful surprises. I’m a sucker for big dreams and never giving up and making things happen when everyone else tells you it can’t happen.
Do you remember Paul Potts, who brought us to tears? In that tradition comes Susan Boyle, who dreamed a dream. I can’t embed the video, but please click over to watch. I dare you to tell me that you are not feeling inspired, uplifted, ready to take on the world, and empowered to Battle Back after watching this.
What’s the real estate connection? Oh honey, to me the connections are many, but please feel free to tell me what connections you find. I suspect different people will be able to pull different things from this performance.
May the Susan Boyles and Paul Potts of the world continue to show us how it’s done.

I was quite moved when I saw this video yesterday; so much so that I shared it with 40 of my agents at our Tuesday morning team meeting.
It seems to me that someone forgot to tell Susan Boyle she couldn’t realize her dreams despite her age and humble station, and therefore she moved ahead with seemingly little fear.
What a tremendous win-win. She can earn a living doing what she loves, and we will have the pleasure of listening to her doing it. Bravo!

She was so fearless!! A bit nervous, but absolutely convinced of her own skill! I found that just extraordinary. All the tiny things that hold me back from tiny stuff, here is she laying it all out there in front of God and everybody. How lucky for us.

Teri, when I was a teenager and bugged by stuff that seemed huge at the time, my older (and much of the time wiser) brother explained to me that in life – we preoccupy and worry about big stuff and small stuff.
Though big things do confront us all… much of what we face day in and day out does in fact fall into the category of “the small stuff.”
Thank you for sharing this amazing video.

That was awe-inspiring. Watched it last night and again 5 mins ago. Notice how they played the heart-tugging music throughout the judging process and blasted the volume once she got her 3rd yes from Simon?
This was a huge wake up call to all of us.
Over 7 million views on You Tube thus far, also amazing.

Kevin-
Yep. And you’re welcome. 🙂
Mark-
I did notice the music. The thing I love about it, besides the obvious, is the crowd support- overwhelming, unconditional support. Damnit, we all want her to succeed, because who hasn’t been in her shoes at one time? Or what felt like her shoes. We don’t show up on Britain’s Got Talent, but we face our challenges, or watch the people we love face their challenges and we just hope it isn’t a train wreck- Oh please! Not a train wreck! Make me a believer! And there it was. Oh yes, dreams backed by some skill can surely make things happen. Who doesn’t need to be reminded of that?

Teri, Thanks for a terrific post! I just watched Susan Boyle for the third time (through tears). The version posted on youtube is incredibly inspiring (and much longer than what I saw broadcast on CNN). Susan Boyle has now gotten over 20m combined views at this point on youtube. The woman is a huge talent and should go far. She also has a huge heart. Although it’s hearsay, I understand that part of the reason she’s gone unnoticed up to this point is that she was taking care of her elderly mother for many years. Someone tried to discredit her on Twitter today saying that she is “classically trained” and that the story about her mother was made up to get publicity. Au contraire. I think Susan Boyle is the real deal. She has made the world over recognize once again that beauty comes from within. I hope Susan Boyle sells millions of records and becomes a singing sensation the world over!
