Cathy is out with a crew today, canvassing a neighborhood with invitations to an Open House she is holding tomorrow. They are wearing our new Tee-Shirts:
We had these made because we are sponsoring contestants in a walk-a-thon, but we made a bunch, so they could be used for things like this, as well.
It occurred to me that we should give away a Tee-Shirt in a contest, but I really don’t have the gift for contests. The one weblog contest idea I’ve had so far is the CheezWhiz Olympics, an award for the new real estate technology that is simultaneously the coolest-sounding and stoopidest idea of the week. Unfortunately, that could easily lead to the entire globe being coated with a thin layer of CheezWhiz.
Anyway, the idea I had was to sponsor a contest to decide what contest to sponsor. In other words, you come up with the contest idea. If we pick your idea, the winner of the contest you suggest will win a BloodhoundRealty.com Tee-Shirt — and so will you.
Hanes Beefy-Tee, top-quality silk screening — a lasting trophy of your peculiar genius…
So what do you have to lose — except for your time, dignity and good name? After all, we’ll pay the postage! Tell us what contest to sponsor and WIN!

Contest: Guess the number of sales made by BloodHound Realty using the new business model. The time period is November 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007. A sale is considered made when it enters escrow.
I’ll make the first guess – 49 sales.

Yes. I actually have 4/4 CMYK available to me, so we’re wasting the printer’s potential, but it’s our look.
For posterity: I wasn’t consciously borrowing from the genius of Dave Liniger when I wrote the tagline “Ahead of the pack” (“Above the crowd”). I was writing the copy for our sold rider:
That language just fit with the Bloodhound metaphor, and it was only later that I realized the similarity.

I would offer a contest, Greg. The contest should be who can best insult the anti-housing websites out there on their own stupid anti-American websites. (I won’t name names, Greg, but you know of one in particular by some parasite living in Great Britain who is praying for a gret depression). I guess he never bought any Real Estate and now is envious of those of us who have. How would that be for a contest? He is already complaining of a conspiracy of Realtors who are out to get him. Feel free to link to his insane ranting site for your readers, but I personally won’t give him the publicity. (P.S., I found your educational and interesting site through him linking to it).

Math for dummies says:
Congratulations on your sale. However, I’d have to ask a question regarding the actual price of the sale. Not knowing what the asking price was, the builder is offering $75,000 in free upgrades, 6% against the down payment, and 8% commission (he only needs to pay, what, 3%?). So, at the end of the day, that property will be recorded as a sale that is $75,000 plus 11% HIGHER than what it is really worth.
Do you see what is going on here?
