Hold the phone — Google giveth and Google taketh away. We’re back t PR5, at least for now. HomeGain.com was at a to-kill-for PR7 and they’re down to PR6, so it might just be a propagation issue.

It says PR6 from here. Really rather unbelievable if you ask me. I mean, you have a blog roll, you don’t use enough H2 tags, and write titles that have little to do with your keywords. And where the link-bait posts you’re supposed to write?
Clearly Google has gone mad and ranked a blog on it’s merit instead of how well it was SEO’d. A sad day for all SEO experts. :p

Booger. 😉 We throw off a ton of links, so I’m hoping we are helping everyone eat a little higher on the long tail.

Hey Greg;
Google is apparently updating the toolbar PR data. Should shake out for sure in a bit. No worries, you will be fine regardless and your real strength is already being given to your site and blog anyway, regardless of the green monster 😉
The toolbar updates are just a tape measure. Your true height is monitored all the time by G! not just every 3 months. I know you know that, but just for other readers.
@Todd- Too funny! and Greg-you are helping others. It is not a sad day BTW- I try to be one of the “not stingy” crowd as well. Just have not developed the same stature as the big dog yet. (grin)Good to see people helping others out here and building conversations the natural way.

Congratulations Greg!
I still see a “6” for the bloodhound blog.
Homegain.com has had a page rank of 7 for a long time.
Last night, however, the HomeGain blog http://blog.homegain.com rose from a page rank of 6 to a 7.
Many of our subdomains (category pages) none of which previously had any page rankings at all have been given page ranks of up to a 5. A few individual posts have been ranked 5 as well.
I notice also that some of the bhb topic subdomains have now been assigned 4’s.
Well done Greg, a tribute to great content!

Google is doing many things that raises questions besides the change in PR. BTW I see a PR5 here in the Naples, Florida area for the Bloodhound Blog.
Number of search results returned for keywords reduced and shifts in the SERP’s for sites moving up to top positions for a day or two and then falling back to where they were.

Russ Shaw’s post archive was at a shocking 5 last night but now it’s at 4 here.

Todd-h2s and on page have nothing to do with Page Rank (other than links out of the page). PR is simply a measure of the value of your page as determined by other pages.Additionally as it updates,it fluxes a whole lot.

Dave Smith says:
Greg,
Not all data centers are updated at the same time. So the swing back and forth is Old to New and back to Old as you refresh you are often switched from one data center to another.
Once the update is complete it should stabilize at the PR6 you are seeing.
Congratulations!

Clearly a 6 from here now, congratulations.
I’m now a 4, and I’m sure that this helped.

I noticed a significant jump in traffic last night and a big jump in the SE results for my main site. It’s still just a PR3, but I’m working on it. Getting to page one for some nice key phrases has doubled my traffic…Of course, I live in Eric Blackwell-land, so I have some tough competition!! 😉
