In a world without middlemen, no one can prevent you from discovering anything you want to know. That’s a freedom more complete than humanity has ever known, until now.
The counter-proposition is that no one can protect you from derision, if you insist on trying to communicate with your head up your “community.”
All of the dinosaurs are extinct.

It’s a public group; why not just join and add a link to BHBU.
When your competitors leave your name off a list it’s hardly newsworthy. Frankly, it would have been bigger news if BHBU was on the list. 🙂 Rubbin’ is racin’.

If your claim is that you have made a comprehensive list, the omission shrieks. And not in a good way. 😉

NASCAR slang? I had to look it up, and I’m still not sure I’m getting it.

Dustin’s post stated “So this evening, I created a group on upcoming simply called Real Estate, and I invite all of you to join me in my endeavor to track the various real estate events that occur around the country.”
What part of that was a claim that it was a comprehensive list?

My take is that Dustin Luther is taking great pains to make himself look petty and small, and, at the same time, to refute his own claim that the fight he picked with BloodhoundBlog was not aimed at Unchained. (I never believed it was, BTW, until now.) In any case, if your weblog presumes to be complete, selective omission speaks volumes. If you can’t hear the roar of hypocrisy, adjust the gain on your end. It’s coming through 5×5 over here.
> And have you read this post?
Just to be clear, that kind of swill makes my skin crawl. You will never find me on the side of secrets, lies or happy-babble propaganda. The real estate industry got into its current mess by way of secrets and lies and inane hoopla. Transparency is our only salvation — and the only truly human course of action anyway.

Calender Updated!
Greg, what would be the best way to get you to publicize this calender? Dustin has admitted to similar strategies in the past.

We’re all in this together?
Forgive my capitalistic mind but I thought the goal of marketing was to DOMINATE a market. I’ll admit a healthier than normal competitive drive but I would have opted for government work if I wanted to do the final act of the musical Grease.
FYI- Unchained is about market domination, not mediocrity

I think you’re imputing better motives to Dustin Luther than he deserves.
The smart question for some bright spark to ask would be: “Greg Swann, If you didn’t believe Dustin Luther was trying to attack Unchained when he attacked BloodhoundBlog, what did you suspect as his motive?” I conceal nothing, and the answer is not pretty, so don’t ask if you don’t really want to know.

Their web site totally rocks. It’s a vendor show, so it’s not my kind of thing, but the site is very professional.

We created Reachd.com to start training business owners on Google Adwords and SEO late last year. We are holding one of our Google Adwords sessions at Zillow and I asked Dustin if he would promote it on his site. He did and then his post arrived about the upcoming.org thing. I really like the idea of using upcoming.org and appreciate Dustin not only linking to our event, but taking to the next level so that all of these events can be seen together. Not sure if leaving events out was his intention but just wanted to add my two cents of how I saw the upcoming.org thing come about.

With my Ubertor hat on, I did post this – http://blog.ubertor.com/2008/03/11/top-real-estate-seminars/
but it only included the events that I had heard about.
The great thing about upcoming.org is that all of the events can be added by the event holder. Which is great and will allow for a more complete list. 🙂

But that’s where you’re wrong.
It would never, ever occur to me to show up at your place just to issue an unprovoked insult. First, I would consider that rude beyond all accounting, and, second, if I actually felt that way about you or your weblog, I wouldn’t go there at all.
In the past, when people pulled stunts like this — public posturing at my expense — I just let it slide. No longer.
At this juncture, you have a choice. You can apologize for having been churlish, or you can run off in a huff. I like you and I respect you in many ways. But your behavior is not appropriate among friends, so you’ll need to pick a side and stick to it.
Either way, this is what I mean about being “quite a bit less willing to take shit.”

Jay Thompson says:
Greg – I don’t apologize for my opinions. They are what they are. Should someone present a reasonable argument and evidence that supports my opinion is wrong, I’ll gladly modify my opinion and offer a revision.
I don’t see that happening here.
There’s no point in getting into any sort of discussion, “blog war” or any of that sort of nonsense. It’s a waste of my time and your time.
So I will kindly step out of “your place”, never to return. Not “in a huff” mind you, but with sadness. Sadness over what I’ve seen BloodhoundBlog become.
