If you read biographies of great filmmakers, you’ll find they all started out like this: Pulling goofy impromptu stunts and committing them to film. Here are the boys from Reachd.com, Vancouver SEO mechanics, trying to bribe Matt Cutts for a page one ranking:
Reachd actually made more than a dozen serious films during their time at PubCon. You can find those by clicking here.

LMAO–OK here’s the news scoop of the century…That was some of the fun that was happening at the Google Engineer’s reception…
Here’s the BEST part. The guy who’s “starring” in the video is Wes from WinstonWeb… Eric Bramlett’s web developer–who was with him there at Pubcon!!
I had never met Bramlett in person until Pubcon, but we had fun together there. Nice job Wes! You’re a star! (Wait til Bramlett sees this…GRIN…he’s gonna die laughing)
BTW-One of the things that was on the menu at PubCon was using great videos to drive traffic to your site…they did pretty well with it!
Far more than just SEO…

Greg, did you go to PubCon? I went to Boston and Orlando. Great fun. I have de-emphasized SEO almost completely since then, however.

No, sir. Just pimping the videos.

I went to the Pubcon Boston in 2003 which was the first one Matt Cutts attended.
It was fascinating!
Cutts is a typical engineer type, a bit shy, awkward but friendly.
In that crowd of search engine optimizers, he was an absolute rock star!
He was surrounded wherever he went.
In the halls, at the bar, he attracted a crowd of search engine optimizers trying to glean a speck of information from him.
A couple of times I just wanted to see what the conversation was about but couldn’t get close enough to hear.
I remember sitting at a bar with some heavy duty black hat guys who were having a wonderful time watching Matt have a friendly conversation with some other guy who my bar mates even admired for his ability to manipulate Google rankings.
From a software engineer to a rock star overnight.
