They’re leaving from multiple launch points, and being seen all over. This is the best news we could hope for. They’re fighting through some very dangerous visual conditions.
For the people who’ve expressed an interest in more in depth info, in real time….

Some of the pictures leave you speechless, the destruction caused by this fire is amazing…and scary at the same time. Hope they get it under control before to much damage is done.

Jeff- I did get connected fine. Again, thanks so much. You just don’t know how helpless we feel and ANY news that’s not from the rocks-in-a-box twinkie news source is appreciated… I’ll be forwarding this to family here and in Boston…

Ken – The destruction is amazing. Seeing it happen from your living room window in real time is humbling.

Teri – So glad to have been of some help.
It looks like the air attacks have been turning the tide. There’s still some big fires cropping up, but the weather has, at least so far, not been terrible.

Jeff it would be great if you could take a few photos next time you step outside to give everyone an idea of what is going on. The shots the media shows never quite capture what it means to real people, those that live in the area.
There are some good photos on flickr, just not sure if we are allowed to link to them.

Not to be pedantic in a time of disaster, but shouldn’t that be, “Cavalry” not “Calvary”? π

Hey! It’s been a long two days – my wife is 3,000 miles away – and in 5th grade I was eliminated from the spelling bee by the word ‘tractor’. Apparently there’s no ‘k’ anywhere to be found. At least that was THEIR story. π
