Recently, we discussed Google blocking ads against MoveOn.org which has led to much negative talk in the blogosphere about Google.
As if their PR department wasn’t working overtime already, ProBlogger alleges Google’s AdSense is committing what appears to be conversion fraud.
I’ll say it again- Google is invincible today, but if the entire world decides that their shady methods won’t fly, they may be moving to a lower rent building for their headquarters.
DB says:
He is saying that Google may have a problem with conversion fraud not that they are committing conversion fraud as your article points out.

Like I said… big trouble brewing at Google. These are just two of the PR issues they are currently having- there are more.

That I agree with. That one issue alone may just be a pretty good indicator for investors of their financial status.

Both of these are complete non-issues. Google was following its very clear trademark policy with respect to the MoveOn issue and every company that has any kind of revenue generating ad or referral program has to deal with fraud.
Every large company has PR issues. For example, neither of these two issues would even register a blip at Microsoft.
I’m not sure why you have such a animus towards Google, but I can assure you that their methods are no more shady than any other large company and that there’s very little chance that The Entire World is in any way considering ditching them.

It’s not very clear at all.
The official policy statement is here: http://tinyurl.com/2pmqrb
Notice that Google has not specified what trademark was allegedly violated. The implication is the usage of their name, MoveOn.org, which is preposterous.
Such a policy would effectively quash any and all criticism of MoveOn.org, by anybody, for any reason at all.

Will Farnsworth says:
Why is this so hard to digest? Gather round, kids..
Nike can’t pay to use “reebok” as a search term that would return links to Nike products.
Per Google’s policy, no person, organization or company can’t use trademarked terms in paid internet ads without the consent of the trademark owner. Did you forget that intellectual property and trademark rights are a pillar of capitalism?
Instead of perpetuating the political sniping that deters public interest in government you ought support change that would fix the issues of money in politics that plague our democracy. Publicly funded elections, anyone?
