Idiots. I left this comment on RealtorGenius…
“I say transfer it to NARGenius.com — which was available until I bought it seconds ago. I’ll gladly transfer it to you, no charge.
If the NAR whines about that, tell them to take it up with the National Association of Rocketry, Nucleic Acids Research, NAR-anon, the hip-hop group NaR, or the Merrill Lynch S&P midcap 400 index fund that trades on the Amex under the symbol NAR…”

Legally they have a case as the word is trademarked, but I guess to be fair, they might as well go after every agent in the country who uses the name Realtor as a domain name… like greenvillerealtors.com, losangelesrealtors.com, and everyone who mentions that they are a Realtor on their site.
If you pay your dues, you should be able to use the term.

They do go after everyone that is reported to them that uses Realtor in their domain where it isnt associated with their name.

Personally, I have far better ways to spend my time than reporting “abuses” of the word realtor to the NAR. Apparently some people really need to get a life.
I do wonder why those that report these things have never bothered to submit “F**kRealtors.com” or “RealtorsSuck.com”. Perhaps because they only chose to rat out their direct competition?
Whatever. I chose to beat my competition with superior service and at the negotiation table, not over a domain name.

Jay, do you own any trademarks?

Jay Thompson says:
“Jay, do you own any trademarks?”
Nope. Not sure what that has to do with anything though…
If the NAR wants to defend their trademark, fine, then defend it unilaterally not selectively.
If I had a trademark, then it would be my job to defend it. Seems the NAR relies on their membership to do the policing for them.
Personally, I get nothing for the word “realtor”. I pay my dues because I’m forced to if I want MLS access. I don’t pay the NAR for the right to use the word realtor. In fact, as is abundantly clear, I *can’t* use the word the one place I’d like to and where it would do me the most good.

Wow, just goes to show how some would go about thanking others. So now that this is out of the way do you think some real problems can start to get solved now?
Yeah right!
