Nonsense. I was doing what was right for the reader. Either that’s the “secret” to Google or the SEO experts are all wet — or both.

Derek Burress says:
Greg: Every real estate blog I visit has mentioned something about that site, so you have a lot of back links which has caused that site to go straight to the top of the search results.
By the way, mind telling me your secret to attracting quality contributors?

I don’t know that there’s a secret. I really like good writing, so I end up gravitating to people who write well. Together we strive to give good writers a platform from which they can shine, so the whole thing should be self-reinforcing; The better it gets, the better it will get. Seems to be working so far.

Todd Carpenter says:
Derek,
It’s true that lot’s of blogs linked to, and wrote about Greg’s new web site. Yes, that is a contributor to why the site has achieved such a high rank so quickly. But the question you have to ask yourself is, “why did we link to it?”

Todd: Maybe there was some money changing hands under the table in exchange for links?
LMAO

Todd Carpenter says:
Well, I’d happily shill-blog for the highest bidder. But that didn’t happen. Greg owes these bloggers nothing for linking to him.

I know that’s a joke but I want new readers to know it as well.

Hey Brian, did I miss out on a transaction? Greg, you got some splaining to do…

…or the combination of an authority site (bloodhound) + basic, but important, seo factors + a relatively non-competitive keyword phrase puts you at the top. Hardly makes seo’s ‘all wet.’
Nice work, nonetheless.
