We see this too often in our little world, a mob pile-on of snarky observations, continuous and hugely public. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. This is classic drama in action, all dressed up in modern gladrags.
Tell us what you think. I’m off-topic, but the whole world is off-topic…

“mob pile-on”
Oh. Yeah.
I love absurdity and that was a mother lode. Pile-on or not, mob action or not, I laughed out loud. Humor is a great way to diffuse tyranny.

Humor is the most effective weapon for destroying tyranny. An inconquerable army is nothing if the emperor doesn’t dare use it.
As I mentioned yesterday in email, we can judge how free a country is by what it does to satirists. True tyrants exterminate people who dare to mock them. In America, great satire goes viral.
Even so, Obama is a human being, and the ignominy he will face over the next 14 months — and for the rest of his life — is a cruel reward for sticking his neck out. Poetic justice is a fun thing to talk about, but it can’t be that much fun to live with.

This did cross my mind, (between guffaws, I confess). This is going to be the ugliest election I’ve ever witnessed. I think we will see new lows in campaigning, which will bring it’s own brand of misery. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope so anyway.

I have an air-bubble called remorse in my heart, just now, blown in there by the recent revelations of how miserable Monica Lewinsky’s life has turned out to be. I had a lot of fun at her expense in the late ’90s, but it’s not fun to see what all that tittering has done to her. Obviously, I would have handled her dilemma differently — holding up a mirror to scorn — and I would have no trouble weathering what Obama is going through now. But for the people-of-the-mob, having the mob turn on you is a fate worse than death.

Hi Greg!
I don’t like mob-like stuff. I witnessed it this year by the SM vendorsluts. It was not nice. Quite disturbing actually.
