Steve Jobs in Forbes. One of the most hateful precepts of socialism is the idea of existential equality. We are all equal politically, but in the things we do with our lives we are very different. The world we live in is much richer because Jobs is alive now, too. We will be poorer when he shuffles off this mortal coil. The best thing we can do — for ourselves, for our businesses and in tribute to the best the human mind can achieve — is to learn to think as Steve Jobs thinks.
Ben Fisher says:
“Nike makes some of the best products in the world. Products that you lust after. But you also make a lot of crap. Just get rid of the crappy stuff and focus on the good stuff.”
Good stuff. This can be applied to MANY different areas of life as well.

Dan Boyle says:
To kinda continue the thought… We’ve always heard the expression “winners never quit and quitters never win”. I get the sentiment, but it’s not true. I have now realized that winners quit early and often. Being able to cut your losses early can be a difficult skill to develop.

@Dan — Have you read “The Dip” by Seth Godin? A manifesto on quitting. Well worth the 30 minutes it takes to read.

I have read, “The Dip.” It’s a great book and a quick read. In it, Seth Godin tells about how it’s better to quit early on doing something mediocre, so you can focus on doing something great.

Robert Worthington says:
Steve Jobs is purely genius. Steve even responded to an email my friend sent him asking if he is going to come out with a 64 bit version of some video editing program. But, purely amazing, he technology mind is brilliant, but so are his business skills.
Think about it, Where else you can buy an Ipad for Christmas, and then roll out with the Ipad 2 for tax return time for a few months lately. Brilliant. Maybe Al Gore should be taking notes from Steve Jobs.

Joe Hayden says:
Based off of your comment, Greg, I find the passion of Steve Job’s life to contrast with his expressed political beliefs. While he has held his cards relatively close to his vest, he tends to support those who’s apparent intentions clash with the heart and mind of an independent industrialist.
