Jeff Brown says you might want to keep your goals to yourself. Jim Klein says every intentional action you take is the expression of a goal, even just the goal of wasting time. Greg Swann says simply this: If you track your achievement of your goals, you’ll achieve more of them.
Without tracking, goals become wishes, IMO. When we used to run marathons, our 20 milers went from Mission Bay to La Jolla Cove and back. Tracking came with the package. Whether we ran, walked, or crawled, our cars were 10 miles away when we arrived at the Cove. π
It’s probably my makeup, but from where I sit, most of the discussion about goals on my post is akin to a raging debate about how many angels are needed to play a rousing game of musical chairs. Coffee house philosophy.
Whatever works, mostly. Yours is a common motivation, Jason, though I think Greg has an even better one philosophically. Jeff’s got the existential part down pat IMO: “Do—or Don’t.”
On this issue, Greg is Picasso explaining the finer functions of various brush strokes. Me, I’m just pointing out that the paint and canvas exist!

Do — or Don’t.

Jason says:
I believe this to be mostly true, I have found it very important to share it with people you care about so they can keep you on track.
Feeling embarrassed by not doing them is usually what keeps me on track

Jim Whatley says:
I keep my goal to myself, because the other agent/brokers in town would run me over in a parking lot if the knew.
