We’re moving again starting now. If this post is at the top of the blog, you’re probably still on the old (new) server. I’ll post something new when I can on the new (new) server. My apologies for all this mishegoss. On the plus side, I’m learning a ton about web servers…

I’d love to know details. Are all your domains still spread across different servers? Or is everything now on one, dedicated server? What are the server specs? Thanks for whatever you choose to reveal. 🙂

We’re back on one server, but it’s a monster — eight cores, eight gigs of RAM, 500GB disk storage. There are things I can do to make our pages serve up faster, but the top page of BloodhoundBlog — almost one megabyte of HTML, much more than that in actual data, with 700-ish discrete objects on the page — is coming across in less than four seconds without caching. This is a fast server.
But: I have need for all of it. I thought I could spread our load, but the spiders and my own cross-talk was killing us. I have big plans to push this sucker to a very high fraction of its capacity.
