I’m testing the IPAD this week ATT is not very strong when it comes to coverage in my area either. I’ve been testing my mobile hotspot with Verizon with the device.
I’d recommend a TABLET PC I run a HP2380P pen technology is amazing and I’ve had minimum problems. They also offer a care pack warranty which is a must for me considering I’m about as hard as you can be on computers.
Besides looking cool taking notes on it, what other software are you using with it? I assume you have an annotator of some sort for clients to sign a PDF. I have Lenovo x61 but since Docusign, I never have clients sign with my tablet.
I use PDF annotator, drop box, along with Microsoft one note those are the two programs I really use on an everyday basis. I also have an air card through Verizon Wireless
Joe,
Shell never go back once she gets comfortable with tablet or Ipad solution. Then the increased productivity sets in and she will be an alien like me
When 4G hits we will all be happy campers. The Verizon WIFI hotspot of my Droid X seems to work reasonably good in comparison to my embedded aircard in my tablet pc. I miss the embedded aircard but for $40 more per month its hard to justify the cost.
Your post inspired me to go out and pick up a TabletPC. I was able to find a used one for $300 on craigslist within minutes of starting my search. I have spent the evening installing my software etc. I love it. There are a couple of things that I wish were different but for the cost involved I can live with the shortcomings for now. The Bluetooth is great as I can connect wirelessly to my printer now and print docs on the go. I have a portable printer in my vehicle and using this solution I can print out new contracts on the spot. Using PDF, OneNote and having my Clear 4g hotspot I am a truly mobile professional now. My entire bag weighs 7LBS with the table, printer, and accessories. I can work from wherever and have a fully functioning office now!
What a SHOPPER $300 bucks and your rocking and rolling. You really kicked into gear really fast and from the sounds of it your using all the programs I use. Make sure to check out dropbox to manage all of your transactional folders.
For signing documents on a Tablet I print in Journal Note writer and then you can sign on the screen. After that I convert it to a pdf file and email everyone a copy. I am on my second. Had the first one a Toshiba for 5 years, this one is a Dell had it about a year. A lot of stuff never makes it to paper. Couple it with Carbonite which backs you up to their servers every time you stop typing for a couple of minutes (around $50 a year) and you are eco friendly cutting edge.

I have been wanting to get an IPAD but ATT service stinks in my area. What else would you recommend?

Just emailed the video to my wife. I’m trying to convince her of buying one of these. π

I’m dying for a Sprint 4G hotspot for my car. Not in Phoenix yet, but that will be my iPad’s main connectivity solution.
