I wrote one Wednesday, one again this morning, both at $75,000 — I kid you not. But Cathleen put two of her listings into escrow yesterday totaling almost $500K. If this keeps up, we might actually start to make a living at this job.
Hey, for all you shirt soakers here’s a tip that my first broker shared with me. (She was a classic southern dame). Always wear a white cotton undershirt under your dress shirt. How could two shirts keep you drier than one shirt? Well believe it or not it does. The cotton undershirt takes the sweat away from your body and does not transfer it to your shirt.
My first couple of years in the business I would always sweat like crazy, and when I started following her advice it really worked like a charm. BTW it was 102 degrees yesterday while I was showing property and I had an undershirt under my polo shirt. I was fine and my customers looked like they were hit with a water balloon.
Great tip Dan. Over here in Miami most of the year is warm and humid but we have NEVER recorded a triple digit temperature. I believe the highest ever was just 98°F.
Guys, on the beach it not the heat it is the humidity. I do sell and live on the beach. I wear long pants on the first date with new customers. Then is wicking underwear, short, coolmax shirts and sandals. The pitfalls are weird tan lines on the tops of your feet. It is very distracting with all the bikinis walking by.
I love Barry’s line I will be sure to steal it. Barry if you come down to the Panhandle I’ll serve you a cool drink.
Its been between 95 and 100 here and very humid…brutal showing houses in this weather. We tend to hurry from the air conditioned car to the hopefully cool house or condo.
I was with relo clients in the heat in addition to on and off heavy rain showers with my ‘fancy’ high heels on….after a couple hours together, I switched into my *red* flip flops. They just laughed.
Dan Connolly, I’m in your debt. Your advice about cotton undershirts was spot on. I tried one out today, and it made a huge difference. Some soak-through where the shirts are pressed together — my phone in the pocket and a bandoleer swash left by the seatbelt, but much better with than without. I think there may have been an evaporative-cooler effect, too, but that’s something I want to take some time to evaluate.

I remember those days in AZ. I was often sporting that look too, half the time it was from spilling a Gatorade on myself. Gotta stay hydrated!

Greg, Glad I could help! It’s weird how it works, loose clothing makes it work better also.
