I have what I need to start moving BloodhoundBlog. Once I’ve posted this message, I will be backing up our MySQL database to get it ready to move. The weblog may continue to seem to work for the next few hours, but any changes made to the database — any new comments — will not be carried over to the new server. I expect to have everything back up by around 4am MST. I will post an amendment to this post when we are back to normal.
For now: Go to bed. In six hours or so, I’ll to the same.
We’re back! I thought I had everything about two hours ago, but I found a problem with some high-order characters that I had to fix by hand. “Ask the Broker” is acting flaky, but I’m hoping that’s DNS related. Let me know if you see anything broken.

Greg,
Your site is light speed fast compared to the old one. I don’t know if that is due to the host or all the files being laid down clean. Either way, it is nice to have an energized bloodhound.
I’m sure you are breathing a sigh of relief. I know I always do when migrating a site from one host to another.
Not something you want to do very often.
Congratulations on a successful migration.

Interestingly, WordPress honors UTF-8 high order characters in their typed form, and it gets MySQL to eat them, too. So when you save the backup from the Backup plug-in, they’re there. But MyPHPAdmin seems not to like them, so I got to run a number of globals — surely not an exhaustive set — to turn high order UTF-8 characters into a form MyPHPAdmin wouldn’t trash. It’s something I’ll watch for the next time I move — may god make that never!
I have plans to leverage off all your hard work this week, Dave.
