I’m not sure if it’s for “every” agent, but it certainly is an more ordinary consideration than it was even a few months ago.

Let’s talk the nuts-and-bolts of this. Would you use a digital camcorder / digital camera? What is some good software for doing the RSS / streaming of these things?
Sounds good to me!

Hello There.
I can answer that!
Your typical miniDV camcorder will work fine for the video portion, just make sure that there is WAY more light on your subject than you think there should be. This should make the image look more vibrant and professional for the viewer. Most of these miniDV cams will output video streams via firewire or usb to a computer for editing. It’s a fairly simple process that can be learned by simply reading the manual for the DV camcorder.
The audio portion of the video is where the trouble will come in. There are a couple of ways to do this. If you use the regular built-in microphone for audio, you will be less than satisfied with the adio results. A better solution would be to pick up a handy dandy shotgun microphone. There are lots of companies out there (Shoeps, Sennheiser, Azden, Sony, DPA, ETC.) who make special microphones that plug into, and mount right onto, the camera. Any of these will capture audio of a much better quality than the built in mic.
The best quality yet would be performed by the miniDV cam for video, a small mixer and dedicated microphone for audio, and a software program like Nuendo. The problem with this is that it would take much more expertise, and the software costs $3000 alone! So, just scratch that. . .
There are many video hosting companies that will allow you to upload your completed video and distribute it (via URL, etc.) to where ever you desire. Unofrtunatey, I know nothing about RSS or other feeds!

Video podcasting is one of the greatest tools in my marketing drawer, I’ve only been at it a few months now and I’ve found that just like everything else, it’s in doing something that we really learn the process. I knew nothing about video let alone video podcasting until I bought myself a camera and just started posting … the result, my message is getting out there and my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner!

I agree – very nice quality. Tebo, what do you use to do the actual RSS feed? WordPress?

Tebo says:
Actually I went through two stages with my RSS feed. At first I tried making one on my own based on research gathered from various google searches. Sites that got me on the right track at first were wikipedia and xml.com … if you do a google search for ‘RSS’ they should appear in the top 10 results.
Later on I tried some RSS generators but did not like the lack of control over my own feed. I eventually took a hard look at the actual code created by these automatic generators, and combined with my own acquired knowledge of RSS, I went ahead and made my own using windows notepad believe it or not.
But by all means I encourage any of you, feel free to use my RSS as a template (visit http://www.lvstudios.ca/tebovision/rss.xml, right click anywhere on the page and choose ‘view source’).
As you’ll no doubt see, it allows me to place pictures for each item in the list as well as descrptions that translate seemingly well between various aggregators.
… that’s funny actually, if someone would have said aggregator to me just a few months ago, I probably woould have said gazoontite!
