I don’t really do anything with my Facebook fan page other than to have my blog content automatically streamed to it, but a little Brady-esque follow up every time a new “friend” touches my “Fan Box Badge” is proving to have quite a nice effect on my sales effort, so I figured I’d share.
The protocol:
- You create your fan page.
- You embed your box on your website.
- When people land on your website and see smiling faces, you look cool, perhaps even trusted.
- Your visitor is already addicted to facebook, so he/she can’t resist the temptation to “become a fan.” [After all, it’s only 1 click.]
Then the fun starts…
You visit your own site and see a new face in your sidebar. It’s go time! Send your new fan a personal fb message, or even better, google them up for a phone number and do a little follow up. Maybe something like:
“Hi. Just noticed your face on my website in my Facebook page widget. Thanks for becoming a fan. Just curious, how’d you find me? …. ”
I originally tried to embed the actual Fan page box here, but didn’t seem to want to take the script… so, the sneaky image link… π

Ryan – did you really just suggest that people pick up the phone and make a personal call?
Dude, don’t you realize who you’re talking to on this blog? We’re a bunch of real estate web wannabe gurus who think that the Internet should do all of the work for us.
You know, it won’t be long before someone develops an iphone app that drives people around, fills out contracts, gives experienced investing advice and shows up at closing to make sure everything on the docs is correct and agreed to.
Maybe we could even figure out a way to have Facebook facilitate virtual closing online so that clients can leave live testimonials for us.

Ryan, I don’t know about other folks, but the atmosphere in my office gets pretty hectic some days and the thought of someone tying up another telephone line just to thank me for fanning them on FaceBook kinda makes me want to scream.
In my world, that caller would be just another telemarketer. Sorry about that.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I’ll be working on my Facebook business page later today. Probably add it to the sidebar of my site once I get some fans.

I cant wait for the day the iphone has an app that will do all my work for me so all I have to do is sit back and collect a check! HeHeHeHe…we as realtors have def. relied on the internet and it works so why not?

I think calling someone who became a fan of your facebook page is a little out of line. If I became a fan of a page and received a call without supplying my phone number, I’d be pissed. I think you’ll scare more potential clients away. I’d stick to e-mails or facebook messages until you build a relationship.
Great post though. I think this is one of the best ways I’ve seen to use fb as a real estate lead capturing tool.

Hi Ryan,
I love this idea, though I will not google peoples phone numbers and call them out of the blue. I would not like it if others did it to me, and so not doing it to others.
